After the anticipated June 4 public hearing was canceled, a new public hearing has been scheduled for August 20, 2026, at St. Ann Church.
The hearing will address the proposed Van Keuren Transfer Facility and Material Recycling Facility at 25 Van Keuren Avenue in Jersey City. The facility would receive solid waste from across the tristate region, potentially increasing diesel truck traffic and pollution in the surrounding community.
Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposal, submit public comments, and speak against the facility. Community participation is important in helping prevent additional environmental and health burdens in Jersey City.
Please submit your public comments as soon as possible. The more residents who speak out against the proposed waste facility, the stronger the community’s efforts will be to stop it.
Submit a Public Comment:
Send a customizable email asking the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Van Keuren to deny the permit.
